Port Stephens Olympic
ll keep this short and sweet
Port Stephens race weekend is one of my favorite races of the year and I was really looking forward to racing after my best 8 week block of training in years.
I started in the 4th wave with most of the competition leaving in the second wave 6 mins ahead.
I had a quick warm up swim focusing mainly on the conditions as i felt this would be the biggest factor in a good swim.
The gun went off and i high tailed it straight down the beach for a good 400m with no one following suit. I did the same for the second lap which paid off in the long run limiting my time to the quick swimmers.
I jumped on the bike and was really looking forward to laying a fast bike down as i feel the course suits me well. I felt like a could never get out of 4th gear but all in all still had the second quickest bike of the day.
Out on to the run which i found my legs quickly maybe going out a little to quick at the start as i struggled over the last 2 km.
All in all i had a great day finishing 3rd overall and finally overcoming the Port Stephens hoodoo finishing 4th there on the last 4 occasions
Congratulations to the rest of the Project M Team with most athletes having great races
